Charity evening focuses on helping others
By:

The fifth annual Owasso Evening of Charity will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10 at Owasso Mid-High School.

Adult volunteers from the community are asked to come and donate their time to benefit local charities.

Area churches should have received a letter from event chairperson Linda Kile.

Any interested volunteers or any charity needing help with a project that evening should contact her at 272-7639 or email her at owassovolunteers@sbcglobal.net,

Free babysitting for children ages 18 months to 11 years will be available during the two-hour period only. Refreshments will be available for all volunteers.

Owasso Blood Institute will conduct a blood drive during the event for ages 17 and over.

Last year, 155 volunteers helped more than a dozen charities by stuffing envelopes, making blankets, knitting hats and assembling school supply bags.

Forty one pints were donated during the blood drive. Some of the charities benefited were Owasso Community Resources, Blue Star Mothers, Little Light House, St. Francis Pediatrics, United Way, Afghans for Angels and American Diabetes Association.
