"Be an angel. Fill a stocking for a local child in need."

That's the motto of Owasso Community Resource Angel Tree project providing presents for some 400 children ages newborn to 18 in the Owasso and Collinsville area.

Helping out with the endeavor are the Salvation Army taking 20 angels; Oklahoma Baptist Children's Home in Owasso; Barnes Elementary with 192 clients.

People who will be helping will be United Methodist Church taking 50 stockings; Crossroads Christian Center and St. Henry's. Each will be taking 50 stockings.

You can pick up the angel stockings now at F&M Bank, RCB on 86th Street, The Market on 86th Street by Albertson's and Pass Your Plate.

The suggested spending amount is $75 for each angel which will ensure that children within a family will receive gifts that are equal.

Return the gifts to the OCR office at 109 N. Birch, Old Central east of city hall, southeast entrance, on or before Wednesday, Dec. 13, any time from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday or Thursday. Call Lori at 272-4969 if other arrangements need to be made.

Return all gifts unwrapped. Provide gift wrap or gift bags, tape and bows so the parents can wrap the child's gifts.

Return the gifts in the stocking provided if they will fit. Otherwise, put them in a sack or bag. Attach to the stocking and every bag or sack the paper stocking containing the child's data or the child's family number and child identification.

A party will be held at the new Bailey Medical Center on Friday, Dec. 15. The children will have their pictures taken with Santa and they will do crafts and listen to Christmas music while waiting for Santa.

A Hispanic Santa will also be on hand at the party.

Owasso Community Resources recently provided 166 Thanksgiving meals, 115 to Owasso families and 51 in Collinsville.
