OWASSO - The cause is still admirable, but the face of fundraising has changed locally. It is now painted and pampered to support Owasso Community Resources, a community service organization.
On October 20, Belk at Smith Farm Marketplace will host Diva Day. Women of all ages from Owasso will flock to Belk to receive the royal treatment for at least two hours.
Every woman has dreamed of being waited on hand and foot and having a personal hair and make up consultant. Well, it may not be your husband dressed as your personal butler, but at Diva Day, it is all part of the package. Husbands are optional.
"Belk has traditionally been a supporter for helping in the community in any way they possibly can," expresses Belk's store manager, Angie Hellwig, "it [Belk] has charity days and this is one that I personally picked and it helps OCR. What they do for the community is important to me and that's why I chose to do this event. They touch a lot of lives. This has made a difference and will continue to make a difference. "
Your first good deed of the season doesn't have to be at the local soup kitchen, so roll up your sleeves and get down and diva. OCR is looking for smiling faces to mask for
a day.
"Owasso citizens help Owasso citizens in need and now Collinsville too," expresses Jeanette North, Owasso Community Resources executive director.
What does Diva Day have to offer, you may ask. Butlers serve each woman while she gets her makeup professionally applied at her favorite makeup counter. A hair consultant discusses different options while those worn nails are being refined and touched up. If you wish, you can even return to your husband smelling like the many perfumes Belk has to offer.
"We feel women do not pamper themselves enough since they are the caregivers of the world," declares North. "Two short hours to have your makeup done, hair consultation, mini massage and hand treatments, etc. Just a fun ladies day out for two good causes; help OCR and pamper our mothers, grandmothers, daughters and friends."
The sponsors of this event include Merritt pastries, Salon LaRouge, Lancôme, Estee Lauder, LOGOS, and Jamba Juice. To purchase a ticket for this event go to Belk's Department Store in Smith Farm Marketplace. Individual tickets are $30 and group rates are available.
"You can feel the excitement in the air and the buzz is all about Diva Day," declares North.
OCR supporter Kellie Basden is looking forward to attending and bringing some close friends. She even asked her daughter to fly home from Tennessee to take part in the exciting day.
I think I may have to do that.
