OCR valuable asset to community

There are instances when we miss the mark. Times when we just do not get the job done and drop the ball.
Last week our coverage of the Owasso Community Resources Gala was one of those times. We did not provide the level of coverage that we should have. It wasn't the type of follow-up which our readers are accustomed. For this we sincerely apologize to Jeanette North, OCR executive director; the OCR board of directors; and every volunteer who helped make the event an overwhelming success.
Because of the community's generous giving and commitment to the organization's vision and work, OCR was able to raise more than $56,000.
This is nearly three times as much as Owasso's Best has ever been able to raise.
It is a tribute to North and her team of volunteers who make Owasso's Best the best ever.
It is regrettable we failed to provide OCR with our best efforts in promoting and informing the community of such a significant milestone event in Owasso. In no way did we intend to take away from the best efforts of OCR.
OCR is a valuable asset to our community.
No other organization in the community provides the services and counseling to individuals in need. Without OCR many people would have their electricity turned off, go without food at mealtime or no one to just listen to their problems.
While there is no going back, no reprinting our past issues, in today's issue on page 1A our readers can find a wrap-up story about Owasso's Best and photographs on page 5A.
We missed the mark with our coverage in this case and we pledge in the future to give our readers better coverage of community organizations who are committed to making Owasso an even better place to live.
