Nominate Owasso residents in need

Owasso Community Resources and First United Methodist Church of Owasso are teaming up to help 12 Owasso families, and they want community members to nominate friends or neighbors in need.
Nominations of people who may need a helping hand with yard cleanup or basic home repair are due to OCR by April 13, said Jeanette North, the organization's executive director. Nominations may made by fax to 609-0012 or online at www.owassohelps.com .
Owasso Community Resources will handle the recommendations and work with the Rev. Chris Tiger and members of the church to select families that will receive these services, provided by volunteers.
To register as a volunteer on this "Day of Serving," April 28, call 272-4969.
Owasso Community Resources offers a food pantry, counseling services, utility assistance and referrals to other agencies.
Last year, it provided 575 backpacks with school supplies to Owasso Public Schools, Thanksgiving meals to 175 families, Christmas gifts to 430 children and approximately $48,000 in utility assistance to residents of Owasso and Collinsville.
